Stop the Press!

Admit it...we've all done it. You hit print and the next thing you know hundreds of pages are spitting out of the printer. And you can't stop it!!

Because you have to act quickly, your first defense is to turn off the printer. However, you must also delete the print job from the printer queue or the print job will resume.

To delete a print job in Windows, simply click on the start menu and go to Settings > Printers and Faxes. Then right click on the printer and select "Cancel All Documents".

If you're working on a networked printer and don't have access to your printer control panels, contact your IT manager and he or she can stop the job for you.

Microsoft® Word's AutoRecovery Feature
It's a Lifesaver!

Did you accidentally kick your power cord or close Microsoft's Word without saving your document? Well maybe you lost your work -- but then again maybe you didn't!

MS Word has a built-in AutoRecovery feature that in many cases saved your work! When enabled, the AutoRecovery feature creates a second, temporary copy of your document every few minutes. Although the default setting is to automatically save your work every ten minutes, it's a good idea to make sure this feature is enabled.

To access the AutoRecovery feature, on the Tools menu, click Options and then click the Save tab. There you'll find the "Save AutoRecovery info every: X minutes". If you want to specify where the files are saved, click the File Locations tab.
